FAQs

What should I expect during my first session?

The first session is typically about getting to know you and understanding why you’re seeking therapy. We’ll talk about your background, current struggles, and goals. It’s a collaborative conversation where I’ll listen to your concerns and start to get a sense of how I can best support you.

How long will I need therapy?

The length of therapy depends on your goals and the challenges you're facing. Some clients may find relief after just a few sessions, while others may benefit from longer-term work. Together, we’ll regularly check in on progress and adjust the approach to make sure it’s helping you.

How do I know if therapy is working?

Progress in therapy can look different for everyone. Some people feel immediate relief after talking through their challenges, while others may see more gradual shifts over time. We’ll set specific goals, and throughout therapy, we’ll regularly discuss how you're feeling and if those goals are being met.

What if I don’t feel a connection with you or don’t feel comfortable?

It’s completely normal for clients to wonder about the fit between them and their therapist. If, after a few sessions, you feel like it’s not a good fit, let me know. We can discuss it and decide together whether we should adjust the approach or refer you to someone else.

Can therapy be done online, or does it have to be in-person?

I offer both in-person for clients that are in the Bakersfield, CA area, as well as online therapy for any client in the state of CA. Online therapy can be just as effective, and it offers flexibility for clients with busy schedules or those who prefer remote sessions.

How much do therapy sessions cost, and do you accept insurance?

I currently take the following insurances: Aetna, Anthem, Anthem Blue Cross (SISC), Cigna, Oxford, United HealthCare, and Oscar. I also accept cash pay, individual ($145/ session) and couples ($200/ session).

What if I don’t feel ready to talk about something?

You are in control of what you choose to share. Therapy is a safe space, and there’s no pressure to talk about anything you’re not ready to discuss. We’ll move at your pace, and the goal is always to create a space where you feel comfortable and supported.
